25 Years of Salon Service Group

SPRINGFIELD, MO, FEBRUARY 7, 2011 – 2012 marks the 25th year for Salon Service Group, and they plan to take on this landmark year by setting their sights on the people and companies who have helped them reach this milestone.

"We value our relationships with our employees, the salon professional and our brands. In fact, the focus we put on these relationships are the driving force behind everything we do," said Gino Barbo, President.

To recognize the company's employees, Salon Service Group began 2012 with an awards banquet in Kansas City on January 28. In addition to the people who make up Salon Service Group, it has also committed to a "Focus on Color" which  begins this spring with a stylist competition. This contest will recognize the creative talents of the salon professional by featuring the winner on the cover of the Salon Service Group catalog.

Salon Service Group has created a schedule of continuing education classes for the spring, summer and fall to showcase its independent brands. The company plans to end the year with a haircolor event for over 150 salon professionals in Kansas City and an exhibition showcase at InSalon 2012 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

This year's focus on people and product is part of a lifetime commitment for Salon Service Group. "I can't tell you how grateful I am for all our outstanding connections," said Mr. Barbo. "We are excited to continue these and make many more friendships as we journey together through the next 25 years."

U-Smooth Announces Before & After Transformation Contest

SPRINGFIELD, MO, DECEMBER 28, 2011 – From start to finish U-Smooth irons are scrupulously designed and engineered for top performance while maintaining the U-Smooth signature esthetique. These irons can transform any hair type into smooth, shiny locks, but it takes seeing to believe! That’s why U-Smooth created its “Show Us Your U-Smooth Transformation Contest” as proof of the product’s effectiveness.

Aimee Pry, U-Smooth Brand Manager, introduced the contest to current U-Smooth customers, users and stylists as an opportunity to share the potential U-Smooth offers. “We want to share the U-Smooth experience with people of all hair-types, especially those who think they can only attain smooth, sleek hair with chemical services,” she explains.

The U-Smooth Transformation Contest showcases the U-Smooth iron’s ability to cross ethnic boundaries to quickly and easily transform frizzy, dull hair into beautiful, sleek, shiny hair regardless of hair type. Ethnic hair can be coarse, difficult to smooth and prone to damage while fine hair is liable to singe and break. The U-Smooth iron is flexible and gives maximum control for all hair types with its adjustable heat setting ranging from 250 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

U-Smooth contest before photos ranged from thin and lifeless to thick and unruly, but the after photos all showed sleek, smooth, shiny hair. The U-Smooth Contest ran from November 28, 2011 to December 28, 2011. Contest winners will be the first to receive the U-Smooth Limited Edition Green Smoothing Iron and will be featured on the U-Smooth website. Photo transformations will be available to view at U-Smooth.com along with its currently available product reviews to provide online shoppers with proof of the U-Smooth transformation capabilities.

The U-Smooth family of styling irons has the ability to transform hair to look and feel smooth and sleek, to add silky smooth curls or to give volume and style. U-Smooth manufactures several sizes of smoothing irons including 1.5”, 1”, a mini iron and a texturizing iron for volumizing, and is in the process of launching a new line of salon quality styling products that will feature benefits like styling flexibility, conditioning for dry hair, heat protection and hold. U-Smooth is an independently owned company. U-Smooth flat irons are available at U-Smooth.com and at its entire range of products are available only at professional salons.

Joplin Benefit

Salon Service Group and Moroccanoil are hosting an evening of salon professional inspiration with a hairshow and entertainment to raise money for three Joplin hairstylists who lost their homes in the tornado earlier this summer.

"When we heard White Rhino Salon had three stylists who lost their homes, we knew we had to do something to help," said Gino Barbo, president of Salon Service Group. "Salon Service Group has always been committed to the salon professionals and this is our chance to give back to our neighbors in Joplin."

The evening will consist of a dynamic stage show by Moroccanoil National Artist, Robert Ham, followed by a live DJ, dancing, silent auctions, and an opportunity to make a real difference in the Joplin salon community. Tickets are $49 with all net proceeds from these benefits used to financially support the stylists of the White Rhino Salon who lost their homes in the tornado.

Two separate Hairshow and Benefits are to be held on September 11, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino from 7:30 to 11:00 pm and on September 25, 2011 in Lake Ozark, Missouri at The Lodge of the Four Seasons from 7:30 to 11:00 pm.
